Banished to Brighton

A Rakes on the Run Novel

Banished to Brighton cover. Man in dark suit, lady in purple dress in front of Brighton Palace. Banished to Brighton — A raffish viscount and a husband-hunting lady in a steamy seaside Regency romp.

Lord James Danbury has fallen out of favor with the Prince Regent. His punishment is an unwanted stay in Brighton, far from the London he loves. But a rake knows how to have a good time wherever he lands.

Glynnis Talbot is out of money and out of time. She needs a husband, preferably from among the bon ton. So far, her attempts to put the parson’s noose around a wealthy nobleman have failed. Bagging a nob in Brighton is her last hope.

James has nearly fallen into this lady’s trap before — getting caught in a compromising situation with no way out but an engagement. No, thank you! In this battle of the petticoat and the cravat, who will win?

What a great addition to Recency Rakes on The Run. The characters are absolutely likeable, you love the hero at times you will hate the hero at times but in the end you will love him.. Same goes for our heroine. The plot is wonderful. So much humor.. Just like the previous books in the series I couldn’t stop reading it once I started reading. I love that Sydney with this story and the previous story we don’t stay in London but we visit other places. I look forward to more in the series.

Full of humor with a bit of angst and sarcasm, Banished to Brighton is an entertaining romantic romp. Glynnis Talbot desperately wants a husband to take care of her. Lord James Hargrove has met Glynnis before and barely escaped her trap. When Prince George assigns James the duty of escorting Glynnis around Brighton, the fun begins. A naïve girl who doesn’t think things through. A man trying to keep up with her and win back Prinny’s favor. Anything could happen, and it does. Don’t miss the bathing fun at the beach. I enjoyed and recommend this cute story.”

I will start by saying I love the entire book and I enjoyed getting to know the characters in depth. It took me a while to warm up to the heroine, Glynnis Talbot, but I understand her plight & her only chance of saving herself was to find a husband.

I loved our hero, Lord James Hargrove from the very beginning! He is a rake, has fallen out of the good graces of Prinny, who has punished him by sending James to Brighton. James is happy in his life, doesn’t plan to be caught in a woman’s trap again so he will enjoy his time in Brighton.

Glynnis & James have an adventurous friendship & they know what each other about so they vow to help each other. The story created a lot of emotions for me & I felt anger towards Glynnis for keeping secrets for so long – her fake fiancée, her lack of money & dowry, her love for James & I thought James would never admit his love for Glynnis. Love does always win & they both realized they needed to do the right thing & live, laugh & love. I also really enjoyed Payton; he was a great friend to James & honorable to Glynnis – I hope you find a place for his story in some book down the road (especially since I got the impression his lost love was not an easy one).

I voluntarily read & reviewed an Advanced Reader’s Copy of this book; all thoughts & opinions are my own.
